Optics
This specialized course on optics is specifically designed for military personnel, police officers, and civilian arms dealers. This course provides in-depth knowledge and practical skills in the field of optics and its applications in the operational field. Whether the participant is responsible for maintenance and use, training others, procurement processes, or trading optical aiming devices, this course will provide the necessary expertise to perform these tasks with precision and professionalism.
This course is only suitable for government employees. In this course, the participant is introduced to the world of optics, starting with the basic principles of light and the anatomy of the eye. The participant learns how the brain perceives these two elements, which is essential for understanding how optical aiming devices work. Then the participant delves deeper into the functioning of optical aiming devices that enhance perception, to gain a solid understanding of the technology and its applications.
Next, the course focuses on practical aspects of mounting, maintenance, adjustment, and calibration of optical aiming devices on firearms systems. The participant learns how to carry out these tasks accurately and efficiently, which is crucial for ensuring the performance and reliability of the systems. In addition, topics related to external ballistics are covered, so the participant understands how various factors influence the trajectory of a projectile.
Finally, the participant works on the subject of detection, recognition, and identification. He learns how optical aiming devices are used to detect, recognize, and identify targets, which is of great importance for both military and civilian applications. The program concludes with a practical day at the shooting range.

His passion for sports shooting led to specializations in long-range shooting and external ballistics. After completing the firearms course and the vocational training for the trade in weapons and ammunition, he worked as a firearm technician in the civilian arms trade. With over 13 years of experience in various firearm systems and ballistics, he also serves as a guest lecturer and examiner for the firearms trade course at the Dutch Police Academy in Apeldoorn.

After completing the course and successfully passing the exam, the participant receives a certificate. The certificate is valid for 2 years. Afterwards, it is possible to renew the certificate through a recertification course.
